Meet Dr. Maureen Sevandal

Dr. Maureen grew up in the Little Italy neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois and attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2001. After her undergraduate studies, she decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps and pursued her dental degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. Dr. Maureen continued her studies to specialize in pediatric dentistry and completed a two-year pediatric dental residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received her Master’s degree in Oral Sciences.

Dr. Maureen’s research in the oral health knowledge and behaviors of pregnant adolescents was published in The Journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Maureen joined Dayspring Pediatric Dentistry in 2007 and she has been practicing here ever since receiving her specialty in pediatric dentistry. She enjoys volunteering her time to provide dental care in mission trips and has served the less fortunate in the Philippines, Jamaica, and Honduras.

Dr. Maureen is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, as well as an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Illinois Society of Pediatric Dentists, The Chicago Dental Society, and Fox Valley Dental Society.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Maureen spends her time with her husband Tim and their two daughters, Angelina and Amelia. She enjoys the company of family and friends, as well as painting, traveling, and attending musical theater. Dr. Maureen is a breast cancer survivor and is a strong advocate of research and support for cancer patients. Dr. Maureen has a working knowledge of Tagalog and Spanish.
